Bought the Blu-ray of Captain Marvel just to watch it on my old TV and act like it is an actual 90’s movie (it’s amazing)

You should record it onto a VHS.

When I was a kid in the mid to late 2000s, I would rent DVDs from Movie Gallery and play them on my portable DVD player that was connected to a VCR which in turn was connected to the TV. Thing is, I would put a blank tape in the VCR and hit record once I started playing the movie. So I had all of these VHS tapes of movies like Casino Royale, Iron Man, The Dark Knight, Avatar.

I'm not getting rid of my CRT TV (36" diag.) until it dies a natural death.

I really enjoyed the car chase scene where it was cut and edited like the 90’s would have, not just film quality of 90’s

Surely buying the Blu-ray to watch on an old TV is overkill? Would the dvd not have done? 🤔

How do you connect a Blu-ray player to a CRT with an hdmi?

    That's pretty neat though

That reminds me, what ever came of that Captain Marvel VHS tape someone made?

I tried this with bumblebee after seeing this post. It brought me back to a time that I wasn’t around for. Truly a cheap and easy way to envision going back in time

It's a shame I got rid of my old, boxy, mid-2000's TV about 4-5 years back. I would love to watch Captain Marvel on a fuzzy, square TV and pretend it was the 90's.

This is probably a stupid question, but did the blu-Ray come with a “90s” version of the movie? Kinda like how there are director commentaries? Or are you playing it on a 90s tv?

That's pretty awesome. I actually have an old VCR and watch VHS tapes (of which I have many) on there. Really takes me back to the 90's.

Now if only they could release Captain Marvel on a VHS tape like they did with Stranger Things...

Also, where did you find your old TV anyway? I feel like the televisions my family owned in the 90's were thrown away a really long time ago lol.

I kinda wish novelty VHSes with fake looking effects were something we could get. Pan and Scan, 3:4 aspect ratio, the works.

I still have a VCR and a ton of films for it.

This has actually for me quite curious. You know how we have console Games that are locked on 30fps but amazing graphics, I wonder how it would look and feel on the old tvs
