No wonder you always hear jokes about the milkman stealing everyone’s girl
"i bet you can't lift me up"
" Oh ya, hold my mil-... Actually, just get your ass over here"
None of this is confirmed, but some of it I know is true. He had lifted weights for York Barbell and toured around the world with the company when they did demonstrations and competitions. I saw some of his pictures with boxers and other competitive lifters. During WW2, a lot of milkmen stayed back home because their services were considered to be essential and they weren't sent off to war. During a delivery in York, he smelled gas in an apartment building and got everyone evacuated before there were any serious injuries. This was taken my a newspaper photographer for a national circulation, kind of like an AP photo.
I could totally do that. Just need to find somebody strong enough to pick me up.
I think that's the most fitting picture I've seen on this sub so far
So he trained like kid goku with the milk route and perfectly recreated the Nappa holding pose, I think your great grandpa is a saiyan
Mandelbaum! Mandelbaum! Mandelbaum!
"I wondered what would break first: your mind... OR YOUR BODY."
One day, back in the 1930s, some handymen were struggling to lift a barrel into the back of their truck.
My great-grandfather happened by, saw them struggling, and asked what was up. They tell him about the barrel; my great-grampa scratched his chin, and said,
"Well, if it were me, I would," then he picked up the barrel and put it in the back of the truck, "do this!" Then he picked the barrel back up, set it back on the ground and said "But that's just what I would do," and walked away.
This reminds me of that.
Dude. A one handed lift like that isn't easy when you have a balanced and predictable barbell in your hand. Being able to one-arm a person is another animal entirely.
Your great grandpa was what we in the fitness community call "one strong motherfucker"
Some serious Goku vs Nappa vibes from that photo
Legends also say he r/neverbrokeabone, but it hasn’t been confirmed.
Is this in Lancaster, PA? I see a Pensupreme truck from Penn Dairies and think of Lancaster.
When belts were worn high!
i would worry such a stud visited my house every week
Bane breaks Batman’s back circa 1947
The mofo milk man ya’all!
God damn this is the old milk makes your bones grow strong slogan in picture form.
Results of the GOMAD approach
It’s always weird to see my town represented in Reddit. We used to go to the Central Family Restaurant all the time when I was a kid. My grandmother still calls it the Pensupreme. But she also still calls Coombs Tavern the Bungalow, so not much changes in her mind 😂
He's probably a lot of people's great grandpa.
And now we know why the milkman got around! He’s a badass! 😂👍
Perfected kai o ken technique
This is just propaganda from big dairy /s
so thats why the milk man had so many families.
May I speak to him about getting stronk
Hes holding himself?
"So kids, that's how my lower back problems began. So please stop worrying about all those times you caught me trying to suck my own dick."
Milkman father joke in there somewhere...
I can see his dick print
You can see his dick
I love the '30s and '40s strongmen with pot bellies, they weren't liable to destroy themselves with dehydration routinesb and diet pills, they ate steak and mayo and loved life.
Break the bat..
Who would have though I would see grampa lifting grampa
Now this is some old school cool for sure!
Amazing, guy looks like hes holding a 70 kg person with only one arm!
My back just cracked from looking at this.
