If anyone is curious, this is Crouton. He was at the Rocky Ridge Refuge 6+ years ago, here was the original post.

THat's awesome! We had a little momma turtle lay her eggs in a hole in our back yard last week. Waiting to see if we can see them once hatched but not sure how long it takes.

She was strong too because the dirt wasn't even loose that she covered the eggs with. Love turtles, especially the teenage mutant kind!

Weird question, but are there any risks associated with close contact with a pair like that? Like bacteria or disease? Hella cute fam.

I've got a fully grown ~40year old one of these at my workplace, can confirm they leave dog-sized poops as well. He'll fit right in!

Curious to know how Harlequins and Blues are part of the same litter. Did a Harlequin and Blue mate?

I didn't know tortoises had feelings like humans and other mammals

I thought they were cold blooded and didn't even have the capacity to feel emotion, let alone show it!

We had a box turtle that terrorized our cat. It would shoulder the poor kitty away from it’s food bowl and eat the cat food.

I was convinced for a long, long time, that reptiles can't have feelings at all. No affection, no love, not enjoying another beings company.

The internet tells me I am wrong.

    And I believe that's a good thing.

This is lovely but also kind of sad: Great Danes tend to live only about 12 years, while a tortoise would live easily 30 or more.

Tortoise totally can bite your puppies. They have really strong jaws. Be careful.

So do tortoises actuslly have emotions or did he like them for their warmth?

So you might be feeding the tortoise too much sweet produce. Higher peaks on the shell are indicative of this. Reduce the sugar and the shell will start to round out better.
