Abstinence is 99% effective since we got the virgin Mary. Anal is 100% is still effective

We were talking about STD's in the communicable diseases section for my paramedic class. The teacher asked, "what is the best way to avoid getting STD's from your patients?" the answer he was looking for was obviously; "don't have sex with your patients." My friend, quick as a whip, calls out "wear a condom." Done. The whole class died, it was hilarious!

When I was in school, our sex ed teacher was a fucking clown.

The dude told us that "a lot of girls will have anal sex because they are still a virgin afterwards".

He also put a condom on his arm, and said "If a guy says a condom doesn't fit, he's lying. If he's not lying, he needs to go find a big animal or something".

He went to put on a video and said "we're gonna watch my favorite video" and it was one where you see inside a vagina as a guy ejaculates inside of it, though I question how they got a camera and lights inside someone.

It amazes me that adults actually believe its possible to teach teens, teens racing with sex hormones that you should ignore everything, the attraction, the desire, the lust, tge wanting, the need and not do it. A perfectly normal human biological condition.

Instead of teaching you good practice, safe sex, how to manage yourself and how to cope with it.

They teach you to fear it and not embrace and respect it.

Teens gonna fuck, your dogma ain't going to stop them. The best thing to do is be honest. This abstinence shit is 100% dishonest pseudo religious bullshit.

This is funny but I need to add the obligatory.. you can still get someone pregnant through anal. It’s a very small chance of happening however, the membrane between the vaginal and anal canals is pretty thin. During intercourse that membrane can tear and the female might not notice it right away, especially if the plowing is rough. Then all that needs to happen is a little bit of that butt nut creeps through the tear and it’s in God’s hands.

I know it's the cultural norms in the south in the US to teach abstinence and it's to reduce teen pregnancy or whatever, but it really sets up kids to fail with unhealthy sexual relationships and ignorance. It's one thing to teach that in your household with your kids knowing everything they need to, but to teach it in the very education that's supposed to be so that people understand how everything works?

I was also taught sex education in the south, but it didn't emphasize abstinence, though that was probably living in a good sized city in a community of not very religiously observant families. Also sidepoint, American sex Ed sucks, but everyone knows that

    Rant over, sorry

I went to a school that 20 years before was very catholic.

When we got to contraceptives in biology class, we had a photocopy of what looked like a very old book.

Condom, the pill etc were there. But something caught the attention of everybody.

Abstinence was listed as being... 99% effective.

Everybody was puzzled. We are not dumb, and we know that when part A doesn't go at all in part B, there is no fucking way a pregnancy can occur. So why is it not... 100%?

Then we figured out our best guess. They were counting Jesus.

What state/school in the South? I went to school in Virginia and they taught abstinence sex Ed and I answered that exact question “anal” and got sent to the principles office. When the correct answer gets you in trouble you know our education system is massively broken

I made a similar joke in high school. The teacher was talking about different forms of birth control but how they all still have a percentage of pregnancies. I said, “thats why I stick to anal.” I got sent to the hallway but I made the teacher and everyone else laugh.

Back when I was 13 we watched a video and afterwards the teacher gave us all note cards so that we could ask questions anonymously. After we all turn them in, the teacher says “For some reason I get this question every year. What if I have two Penises?” Everyone thought it was hilarious.

    This reminds me of when I was in HS and we had an old physics teacher who used to work in astrophysics for his whole career and was teaching HS after a stroke he had later in life. Near the end of the year after testing we had a few days so he was just teaching us some fun/interesting things. He asks "Does anyone know what happens when you enter a black hole?" and a kid yells out "You get HIV!"....... {-______-}

I never understood the logic behind teaching abstinence as a contraceptive or a 'safe way to have sex'; that's like saying the safest way to cross the street is not to cross at all.
How can you make an activity you refuse to do safer?
You're just not doing it at all.
With logic that shitty, you'd probably believe depression can be cured by suicide; you're not wrong but only technically!
