Watching Bryan Cogman tear up when talking about how much he loves the characters made me more emotional than Dany’s death scene
Better decision to write on LotR materials than try to make easy money beating the dead horse Star Wars like some so-called writers.
I do appreciate Bryan cogman, but he also wrote unbowed, unbent, unbroken, so...
Episodes 1 and 2 are overrated as hell. It still suffered from a lot of that modern feeling dialogue with Marvel-esque quips and lack of substance or true, biting wit that Martin has. Those episodes were just people meeting up and saying "hi" pretty much, with a bunch of lame jokes and fanservice inbetween.
This sub gives that guy an easy pass, he is also responsible
This is sarcasm right? This is one of three men who ran this show in the ground, and if he didn’t have a hand in writing ALL of it, he sure didn’t put a stop to D&D’s horrible understanding of character arcs. And didn’t put a stop to Sansa’s rape scene.
I was confused because i thought reddit was taking to me and giving me motivation
The issue of GoT women writers, or the lack thereof, is the primary reason I created this account. As a writer, it is problematic for me to continue hammering these points under my account, and the freefolk 🙌🏼 DO NOT KNEEL.
My previous post about the fact THERE WAS NO WRITER’S ROOM.
From a 2017 Time article BENIOFF AND WEISS WROTE SEASON OVER EMAIL, they don’t even try to pretend.
You guys, I imagine, have different skills. How do you divide the writing of the season?
BENIOFF: We really do split it. Writing-wise, we split halves of the script. We’ll have an argument before the season where we’ll go over the coming season. There will be six episodes, and I’ll say here are the halves that I want to write last half of episode whatever — and Dan will say…
WEISS: Those are exactly the halves that I want to write!
BENIOFF: And then we’ll do some horse-swapping.
WEISS: This was the hardest season. Usually, it’s figured out within 40 seconds. This season was a whole day of emails going back and forth. The final season — who writes which half, where the scene break would be, the second half of an episode, are you including that scene or not including that scene? It got to be more contentious than it’s been before.
This is one of the best memes I’ve ever seen
Wait?!?!?!?!? Amazon’s lotr series?
Wait, there's a LOTR series?
I don’t know why this is a good thing at all.
D&D better stay away from the Dune and Wheel of Time IPs or I'm going to have to take things into my own hands.
The mob is fickle. As soon as hating on LotR becomes memeable he'll be thrown under the bus with the rest.
I really don't want this universe to be further bastardized... May a swift, yet very unpleasant death come to those who made it possible.
To be fair not too hard
That Tyrion face looks just like Drake
Waut I’m cofised n
COG THE ROD
Really looking forward to both the Wheel of Time and LOTR series
watching 2 because I hear it’s the best episode of the season and I’m not sure why it wasn’t nominated instead
Are D&D involved in the prequels at all?
Is LOTR actually happening?
LOTR series? what
Which episodes are ‘ his ‘ ?
Upon clicking this thread, Reddit asked me what kind of award I wanted to give it. Some may call it a misclick, I see it as divine providence.
You mean Bryan "bad poosi" Cogman?
The characters acted closer to their book counterparts in episode 2, which is undid by D&D's shitty writing for the later episodes and made them revert back to empty shells. Cogman read the first book 70 times and assisted D&D in the details and the lore for the first season before becoming a staff writer. He actually wanted to adopt Dorne plot true to the books inserting Arianne Martell. But D&D refused and hacked the storylines. He isn't the one that made decisions like Sand Snakes 'Bad pussy' and Sansa and Ramsay's marriage. People still hate him for those things without thinking that he had no choice but to oblige D&D.
Idk what the hell happened. I randomly opened up reddit while my girl was gone taking a shit, and all of a sudden this dude is my new favorite writer.
I really wish Cogman was doing one of the prequel series. Imagine him doing a series set during the Blackfyre Rebellion or Dance of the Dragons era. Or even Aegon's Conquest or Gods, that would be amazing
Bobby B, you as disappointed as I am your grace?
Eh. His writing leaves a lot to be desired sometimes. Especially his dialogue - I'm looking at you bad poosi.
I feel similarly about Cogman but I also do wonder what the fuck he was doing while Benoiff and Weiss were pitching that nonsensical ending. Did he not say anything? Did they just overwrite him? I'd like clarification at some point
Man of the people
wow, we are saved
Oooooooh can't WAIT for that!
He wrote Arya's stabbing plot in Bravos. I still can't trust him.
Bryan Cogman is a saint!
wait this sub is praising elements of S8 now? dayum, you guys almost went full r/The_Donald there for a minute, eating all your shitposts up like they were truths.
1000% approve. The first two episodes of season 8 were amazing. Which made the rest of the season even worse by comparison.
I’m a bit of an emotional sap, that about choked me up. His passion seems infectious and anywhere he writes is lucky to have him! With that being said I loved the LOTR trilogy and enjoyed the hobbit movies to a slightly lesser extent- Is there a new LOTR project in the works?! I was never much of a reader growing up, ASOFAI is the first series I’ve read start to finish - maybe I need to read the LOTR books now
